Obituary for Ruth Baker Thomas

On June 11, 2017, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ opened wide his loving arms to welcome his child Ruth Baker Thomas, age 79. She ended her earthly journey under the watchful care of Covenant Hospice.

She began her journey on earth on March 26, 1938 in Springfield, FL as the beautiful daughter of James and Alice Baker, who both preceded her in death. Ruth was a graduate of Bay High School, and order of Eastern Star Parker # 96, Daughters of the Nile at Shaddai Shriners, and a perpetual friend of Callaway Masonic Lodge # 369 where her husband, Jim, and two sons are members. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City and the L.L.L. Sunday School Class.

Ruth and Jim were a military family, and throughout their journey together, they lived in several Air Force Stations. They finally settled in Panama City after Jim’s Air Force retirement.

Those left to treasure their time with her, and honor her memory, are her husband of 59 years, Jim Thomas; two sons, Craig Thomas (Cathy) and Michael Thomas; sister, Iris Davis of Labelle, FL; brother, Jim Baker (Donna); and sister-in-law, Hilda McPherson of Graham, NC.
Serving as pallbearers are Mitch Sellers, Mitch Hagans, Joe Paul, Mike Dragon, Bill Castor Jr. and Guy Pettis. Honorary pallbearers are Ron Langston, Bill Fussell, Bob Wazlavek, Bob Cutler and Dave Mitchell.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 16, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
